5-8-09 - Slept well but was up early

Turned out lights to sleep by: 12:45am
Guesstimate of when I fell asleep: 1:10am
Guesstimate of when I woke up: 6:30am
Had alarm set to: 8:30am
Got out of Bed at: 10:15am
Total Time I slept: 5 Hours and 20 Minutes

Last night I decided to relax and watch some tv with mom and dad from 10 to 11.  I then watched the news, drank a chamomile tea, and chilled out.  I got in bed around 12:15 to read, and turned out the lights to sleep. I used breathing techniques, and the process of boxing out thoughts from my mind.  It worked more or less, and I was asleep quickly. I then woke up probably about 20 minutes afterwards because I was hot so I cracked my window, and fell asleep again quickly.

The next time I got up was about 6:00am, to noise and I was coughing.  My window was open so was it too cold and making me cough? My allergies are acting up so that could be it as well  with the window open.  The people upstairs were also making a ton of noise.  I would say from 6:15am till 7:50am the guy was complaining and talking and yelling.  That sucked because I couldn’t get back into a rhythm of sleep any longer.  I then pushed the alarm further, and then again.  I sometimes think I am better off just getting up on days like this, so I will then be more tired the next day.  I am going to try that instead the next time I am up and wide awake earlier than expected.

I am starting to wonder if my body feels better and is more in tune when I get a little less rest time in bed?

5-7-09 - Off Track with bad sleep habits

Well, I was totally off track last night.  My mind was racing, and I didn’t bother to try to slow it down. I stayed on the computer doing stuff, but it was healthy.  As I’ve always known my mind thinks the best in the wee hours of the am, so it was cool to just stay up without letting the thought of having to go to sleep come in.  This is obviously NOT a good thing to do regularly if I am trying to stick to an earlier pattern.

Tonight I am going to try to go to sleep at a more reasonable time, and wake up after about 7 or 8 hours of being in bed.

5-4-09 - Sunday night drag, and white noise fan

Total Time I slept: 2 Hours and XX Minutes

A typical sunday night, once the night came I didn’t want to go to sleep so I stayed up, cleaned my room a bit, and surfed the net till the wee hours of the am.  Around 2:00am I decided to start shutting everything down and hop in bed.  I decided to keep my little fan on low to see if the white noise would help me sleep.  Unfortunately I was up only a few hours after going to sleep, and I was semi-awake it a crazy daze the rest of the morning in and out of sleep.  I wish I had just gotten up and turned off the fan because the noise was bothering me.

It was real hard to get out of bed in the morning and I ended up staying in bed longer than I was hoping for.  I NEED to stay strong and force myself to stay on a routine, and most importantly follow my computers off by a specific time rule, and do the breathing and relaxation techniques once in bed.

5-1-09 - Slept well

Total Time I slept: 6 Hours and 30 Minutes

Last night I slept well.  I took a Zyrtec for my allergies, so maybe that made me a little drowsy?  It was a colder night out, but I cracked my window open anyways since I sleep better when it is cold and under the covers.

I read a bit and then turned out the lights. After turning out the lights I practiced a strategy of thought on a topic (Non sleep related) , and then after that I fell asleep quickly.

The first time I woke up was some time around 7:30am or so, but I was able to fall back alseep. I was then up again around 9:00am and I was sort of awake until I got out of bed.

Overall, I got a decent night of sleep
