4-6-09 - Up late, and slept late

Last night I decided to do no work, and just hopped right in bed to read.  I read a good while and by about 12:45am, I decided to try to sleep.  I didn’t feel overly tired so I knew it was going to be a challenge. I tried to do some breathing and blocking of thoughts, but eventually I gave in and decided to turn on the TV. On the rule that if you can’t fall asleep after a certain amount of time you shouldn’t force sleep, and do something till the feeling of sleep comes back.  The problem was that I caught a good movie on TV and it was 2 hours long. I didn’t realize it was 2 hours until 3am rolled around and there was plenty to go.  I didn’t feel tired so I decided to watch it. I then turned the TV off at 4:00am, and was asleep by 4:30am.

I slept good till about 9:30am. I could hear the people and kids upstairs making noise. It is April break for many schools so they have the day off.  I ended up getting out of bed around 10:30.

I wish I could have gotten to sleep, but I did nap a tiny bit on Sunday from 7:00pm to 7:20pm so that probably threw me off, along with my usual Sunday night routine.

The morning was also dreary and rainy so that made it even harder to get up.

One change I made was that I am only using one night shade, and have the other 2 windows with their blinds so the sun and light can pass through and help wake me in the morning. We’ll see if it helps.

Last night I worked till past midnight. I was making great progress and everything felt good so I decided to just keep on going.  Around 1:45am I was feeling really tired so I figured I would get in bed.  I received a new book today and I want to get it read within a few short days, so I stayed up to read it.  By 2:45am my eyes were nearly closing and I was dead tired.   I turned out the lights, but it still took me a little while to finally fall alseep.

I first woke up around 7:00am to some type of noise, maybe the people that rent upstairs?  Not sure if it was them the first time, but I know they made noise the rest of the morning till at least 9:30.  I finally decided around 9:30 to get ear plugs so I could try to get at least close to 1 more hour of sleep. I managed to dose off a tiny bit, but then got up around 10:40.

It is am amazingly sunny day so right when I opened the shades I started to feel better and awake, but overall I am really tired feeling today.  The best thing to do is to stick to the computer turn off time every night, and i’ll be more in tune to fall asleep.

Total Time I slept:            6 Hours and 15 Minutes

I got in bed super late because I wanted to work, and I was working on my sleep blog getting it all formatted and stuff.  I hopped in bed, put the rain mp3 on, and within a few minutes I was passed out.

I slept all the way till about 10:00am as far as I can remember  and I didn’t really wake up at all in the middle of the night.   Not sure why, but instead of waking up I was having extremely vivid dreams so my sleep later in the morning felt less rested but I did stay asleep so that is great.

Overall I went to bed later than I should have, but I did get a good night sleep.

I need to crack the whip and get back to my schedule of relaxation time and turn the computers off at a specific time at night to get the chill mode under way.
